Chickens!

That's right, we have chickens! Thanks to Derek Taylor the KIPOS Garden has been hooked up with a brand new chicken enclosure! Our four hens are named Flamingo, Gertrude, Walrus, and Crispy Tender!

Garden Policy

The KIPOS Garden is an inclusive garden on Whitworth Campus open to EVERYONE. The purpose of this garden is to build community and to support sustainable practices. Our policies are as follows:

  1. Discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated in the garden.

  2. You must be kind to the plants, trees, creatures and bees in the garden and respect their home.

  3. You must clean and put your tools away after use to ensure the longevity of their use.

  4. You must be kind to others in the garden.

  5. Please refrain from walking on the plant beds so that we can keep the soil loose.

  6. No smoking.

  7. Have fun!

Safety Guidelines

  1. We are still in an active pandemic, so if you would like to take your mask off in the garden, ensure you are practicing social distancing.

  2. Only the garden manager may have access to the power tools in the shed.

  3. For minor cuts, scrapes, and bruises there is a first-aid-kit in the shed on the left side shelf. If you do not have access, call campus security at (509) 777-4444.

  4. If you have majorly injured yourself or someone else, call 9-1-1.

  5. Remember to wash your hands!
